Position Summary
This role will play a critical part in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end closing processes, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. As a key contributor to our accounting operations, this position will manage and be responsible for a variety of tasks including general ledger management, reconciliations, and assisting with financial reporting. This position offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment and make a meaningful impact by contributing to the financial health of the organization.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform monthly and/or quarterly general ledger and bank reconciliations.
- Manage invoice and payment processes in Concur (A/P system) and MIP (Accounting system).
- Process bi-weekly and monthly expense and cell phone reimbursements.
- Research and resolve A/P or A/R reconciliation discrepancies.
- Record daily ACH bank transactions and run credit card, PayPal, and Telecheck reports.
- Assist with outgoing grant encumbrance setups and donor choice payout processes.
- Support bi-weekly payroll processing
- Act as a liaison for Individual Deposit Account (IDA) program documentation.
- Generate and ensure quality assurance of tax receipts for distribution.
- Assist with audit and tax filing requests, including 990s and employee benefit plan compliance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field required.
- Advanced degrees or relevant certifications (e.g., CPA) are a plus.
Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience in an accounting role, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
- Familiarity with MIP Accounting software is a plus.
Skills & Abilities:
- Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and address gaps in policies and procedures.
- High attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and quality.
- Strong interpersonal and consultative skills for cross-departmental collaboration.
- Growth-oriented mindset with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Integrity and commitment to confidentiality and ethical practices.
HIRING RANGE
$60,000-$65,000
The hiring range for this role accounts for the many factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.
