Unreasonable in our pursuit to end poverty.

Last week, board members, donors, and local leaders gathered for a special conversation with Will Guidara, author of Unreasonable Hospitality and former co-owner of New York's Eleven Madison Park.

The book follows the meteoric rise of what was named the World's Best Restaurant in 2017.

In conversation with President and CEO Bill Golderer, Guidara shared more than lessons from building a renowned restaurant. He shared a new way of thinking—providing parallels between his work creating an unforgettable dining experience and our work to be steadfast in our mission to create positive change throughout the region.

The vision Guidara shared is rooted deeply in generosity, engagement, and being of service to others. Hospitality, he said, means being intentional and creative in pursuit of relationships. “If more people made the choice to be in the business of hospitality, this world would be a better place.”

This ethos guides the way United Way serves our community. Our work brings people together across all sectors to fulfill our mission to end poverty and expand opportunity throughout the region. And we will continue to be unreasonable in our pursuit to end poverty.
