With support from Verizon, United Way can better prepare communities for future disasters.
Disasters can happen anytime, anywhere – whether natural or man-made. From fires and floods to power outages and severe storms, every emergency poses a risk to our safety, homes, and communities. That’s why United Way, with support from Verizon, is launching United We Prepare – a new initiative to help individuals and communities build resilience in the face of disasters.
Through this initiative, United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey will be hosting local disaster preparedness trainings and workshops to help individuals and families:
Fires are one of the most common hazards we face in the greater Philadelphia area. Learn how to reduce fire risks at home, create home fire escape plans, and prepare for emergencies with practical tips during our events.
Join us as we take steps towards a safer and more
resilient future for all.

We are currently scheduling community workshops for 2026. If your organization is interested in a fire safety/emergency preparedness presentation, you may request either an in-person or virtual session.
Please provide our team with two or more potential dates and times in 2026 that would work for your organization. For in-person events, we typically require at least three weeks’ notice.
