Together, as one United Way, we change more lives. We drive more Impact. We make a bigger difference.
That philosophy – that together, we do more – has been a hallmark of our United Way since 2012, when seven local United Ways came together to uplift our work in the community.
That same philosophy is alive and well today – and I’m proud to announce the next step in our journey to become one regional United Way: the merger of our local United Way with North Penn United Way, effective July 1, 2017.
What does this merger mean? In short, it means more Impact and a great new opportunity to live our values. The benefits of the decision are significant. For the first time, United Way will serve all of Montgomery County through a single organization with a unified approach to fighting poverty – the final piece to completing our regional footprint for the organization, which now serves 1.75 + million individuals and families in nine counties from Pottstown, Pa., to Cape May, N.J.
Adding this piece of Montgomery County to our regional footprint also allows us to engage more donors, volunteers and community partners and tackle the issues of poverty from a local community, countywide and regional perspective.
We’re also ensuring North Penn United Way communities have a seat at the table to shape the organization’s regional agenda with representation on our regional board of directors and the launch of our first local board in Montgomery County.
I know I speak for all of us at United Way when I say how excited we are for this next step in fighting poverty in our region in a more comprehensive and collaborative way and to welcome the North Penn family into our regional community!
