Offerings by United Way

Poverty isn’t inevitable.

With your support, we can give children and families more opportunities to succeed.

United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey invests in big ideas. Ideas that strengthen communities, ignite conversation and expand opportunities. In addition to the Impact Fund, explore our other offerings that tackle poverty at its core.

The Promise

Philadelphia is the poorest big city in the nation. Let’s change that.

In 2020, United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey teamed up with the City of Philadelphia to launch The Promise—a first-of-its-kind collaboration between government, business, philanthropy, and anchor institutions.

With a $10M initial investment from the City of Philadelphia bolstered by matching dollars from the private sector, the Promise will create and support opportunities for an equitable recovery from the pandemic.
