COMMUNITY RESILIENCY
Fueling resources
when needed most

Community Resiliency

Working side-by-side with nonprofit partners to ensure resources, relief and basic needs get to the people who need it most.

Why Invest in Community Resiliency

For over a decade, United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey has responded to community needs by working alongside hundreds of organizations to expand their critical direct services and provide support when disaster strikes.

When the pandemic hit, supporting food distribution, rent, utility assistance, benefits enrollment, and 2-1-1, were more critical than ever. But this is far from enough.

Now, more than ever, your support can help fuel resources and organizations that are core to the health and well-being of our communities.

2-1-1 gave me a way to keep food on the table and stay safe
during the pandemic.

Community Resiliency Approach

  • Providing basic needs, support and resources to people who need it most
  • Investing in proven, evidence-based partners that build the capacity of community organizations
  • Advocating for poverty-fighting issues across community and legislative partners
  • Identifying gaps and seeding new partnerships to support poverty-fighting efforts

RAPID RESPONSE

When disaster strikes or rapid response is needed, we’re there to help. From WWII to Hurricane Sandy to Covid-19, we quickly deploy resources and support to the people who need it most.

TRAUMA INFORMED REGION

Too many in our region are suffering from the impacts of ongoing trauma, whether it’s caused by violence, crime, poverty, racism or systemic inequality.

Together with our partners, we train those who work directly with people impacted by the effects of trauma to support healing.

CONTINUED INNOVATION

The poverty fight calls for ongoing innovation. We seed new ideas and fund new partnerships to address systemic gaps in service throughout our region.
