Women’s Leadership Initiative Gala
Join us on March 16 as we present the 2016 Women’s Leadership Initiative Award to Jami Wintz McKeon, partner and global chair of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP and present a new award, the Next Generation Leader Award, to Tiffany Tavarez, PECO corporate contributions manager. This new award is given to a woman under 35 who is not only accomplished exemplary professional success but who also lives our motto: GIVE, ADVOCATE, VOLUNTEER.
Morgan Lewis is the largest law firm in the U.S. and one of the preeminent legal service providers in the world, with nearly 2,000 lawyers worldwide. As the firm’s global chair, Jami McKeon sets the strategic direction of the firm across all 28 offices. Elected as chair in the fall of 2014, she is the first female to hold the position in the firm’s history, and is one of only a few women leading international law firms today.
Ms. McKeon is a practicing trial lawyer and trusted advisor to the financial services industry, handling high stakes litigation and counseling Fortune 100 companies on complex legal and regulatory issues, including those related to mortgage, credit card and trust issues for some of the world’s largest banks. She is the former head of the firm’s largest practice group, which under her leadership was named as a “Powerhouse – Best of the Best” by BTI Consulting. She has also won numerous individual awards for her work.
Ms. McKeon is a 1978 graduate of Penn State and a 1981 graduate of Villanova Law School. She is a frequent speaker and is a member of several boards and community organizations, including the Executive Committee and Board of Directors for the Kimmel Center for Performing Arts, the Board of Benchmark School, and is a past Board Member of the United Way and the Philadelphia Mural Arts Advocates. She also works on cases for the Support Center for Child Advocates, pro bono. Her husband, John Hollway, is also active in the community and is on the boards of Philabundance and Fare & Square, a non-profit grocery store in Chester. He is a lawyer and author, heads the Quattrone Center for the Fair Administration of Justice at the University of Pennsylvania Law School, and serves on the Philadelphia Police Community Oversight Board.
Ms. McKeon comes from a family with a performance background (Broadway and big band) to which she attributes at least some of her interest and skills as a litigator. She is the eldest of four siblings. An avid swimmer, growing up she enjoyed acting but has said that if she didn’t pursue a career in law she would be a chef, and she enjoys spending her free time cooking for her friends and family, including her four children.
We look forward to seeing you at the 2016 Women’s Leadership Initiative Gala!
