Altantic County has high hopes for 2012 Sun National Bank Golf and Sporting Clays Invitational

On land and in the sky, the goal on October 12th is to aim straight and make it count, as the Sun National Bank Golf & Sporting Clays Invitational kicks off with a bang, quite literally. It’s an event that draws sportsmen from across the region with its unique mix of sporting clays and golf, and in its 16 years, has raised an impressive $2.5 million to support United Way in Atlantic County.

Burlington County Kicks Off the 2012 Campaign!

On October 5th, United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey in Burlington County officially kicked off its local 2012 campaign season. With nearly 200 community leaders, volunteers and members of area nonprofits in attendance, the kickoff marks the beginning of the first Burlington County campaign since the merger of seven local United Ways.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reported yesterday that the local poverty rate has continued its steep climb, breaking the 28 percent mark from 2010 to 2011, according to the U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey One-Year Estimate. Incredibly, 40 percent of Philadelphia’s children are living in poverty.

The 2012 United Way Campaign in Atlantic County is off and running thanks to yet another savory success in the 5th annual Taste of the Quarter, held last Monday in Atlantic City. With more than 12 restaurants and establishments lining The Quarter at Tropicana with tantalizing tastings of their signature dishes, the hardest part of the night was deciding what to try next.
