The Philadelphia Inquirer reported yesterday that the local poverty rate has continued its steep climb, breaking the 28 percent mark from 2010 to 2011, according to the U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey One-Year Estimate. Incredibly, 40 percent of Philadelphia’s children are living in poverty.

The 2012 United Way Campaign in Atlantic County is off and running thanks to yet another savory success in the 5th annual Taste of the Quarter, held last Monday in Atlantic City. With more than 12 restaurants and establishments lining The Quarter at Tropicana with tantalizing tastings of their signature dishes, the hardest part of the night was deciding what to try next.
